Cabo San Lucas Golf Vacation

Cabo is not a very old golf destination, but what it lacks in experience, age, and quantity, it makes up for in quality. The handful of golf courses on the tip of Baja California in Mexico is enough for most golfers because each course is an exhilarating experience. It’s like Scotland in the desert, but with an ocean. The wind blows, and double bogeys await those who don’t keep the ball in play on the Jack Nicklaus, Tom Fazio, Robert Trent Jones II, and Tom Weiskopf layouts.  The tab at these courses and resorts will be expensive, but the experience is like no other place on earth.

For an area to be truly considered a golf destination, it must have enough golf courses to support a week’s worth of play without repeating courses.  Each course in a golf destination must have a minimum level of quality. That is, it must be well maintained, and it must have some character and be challenging.

Guess what…Cabo San Lucas is the place for golf fanatics, and I can arrange a perfect golf vacation.  Price will be based on what month and how many days you would like for your trip.  Please fill out the questionnaire on this website to get more specifics.  One price will include:

  1. Stay at Dreams Cabo San Lucas all inclusive resort. Dreams is a family friendly beautiful resort, right on the water and is centrally located to the variety of golf courses. Here is the website: Resort: https://www.amrcollection.com/en/resorts-hotels/dreams/mexico/los-cabos-suites-golf-resort-spa/?utm_source=gmb&utm_medium=Yext  and here is a video tour I made of the resort https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tn4Mlu0sgsY
  2. Tee time. The goal for each day is to arrange tee time from dawn to 9am so that you and your party will be free after lunch.
  3. Transportation from airport to Dreams Cabo San Lucas and back to airport. Transportation to each golf course and back to resort.
  4. Lodging at Dreams All Inclusive resort. Drinks, meals, entertainment included.
  5. Round of golf at each resort, practice balls at range and golf cart.

Because some of you may bring your kids some may be just adults…. some may love water, some may be scared of getting on a boat, to make it easy, you can book your own tour/excursion.  If you have questions about anything you see let me know and I will do the research.  Here is the website: https://www.amstardmc.com/excursions/search-results.24.los-cabos/

Because the goal is to have early tee time, the specific order of resorts may not match below, however, I will do my best and you will be informed.  Before you leave everything will be confirmed and sent to you in advance so you can plan appropriately.

San Jose de Cabo, Baja California Sur, Mexico

The hotel and villas sit along the Sea of Cortez. A shuttle ride up the hill takes golfers to the 27-hole Palmilla Golf Course, the first design by Jack Nicklaus in Latin America.

A Jack Nicklaus signature course, combining the unique blending of desert and sea, one of the world’s truly picturesque golf destinations. The Palmilla golf courses are of traditional Mexican design with the Arroyo Nine, back Mountain Nine, and the new Ocean Nine. On the new Ocean course, every hole has its own view of the shimmering, electric blue Sea of Cortéz in the distance. The last of the Arroyo holes are considered three spectacular holes. Diverse in length and enhanced by several water and sand hazards, the mountain holes are as beautiful as they are challenging.

Day 4:

Play at Diamante Resort – The Dunes Course

Drive from Dreams Cabo to golf course = 34 minutes

Set amongst some of the most expansive and dramatic sand dunes in the world is the Dunes Course at Diamante Luxury Resort. All eighteen holes are lined by dunes and native grasses with stunning ocean views. The Dunes Course was recently named the No.1 golf course in Mexico by Golf Digest in 2016.

Davis Love III (2010)

7,160 yards, par 72

Mexico’s first true links, fashioned by Davis Love III and his design team (which included his brother Mark Love and designer Paul Cowley) from a fantastic set of white sand dunes along the Pacific Ocean, huge portions of which are without vegetation and seem like enormous snow drifts. Holes hug the flowing terrain with little artificiality. Two holes on the back nine once played past around a long lagoon, but have been replaced by new 12th and 13th holes on the beach. Now all of the second nine is adjacent to the ocean, amidst the tallest dunes. No other links in the world sports cactus.

The views from the course are unparalleled and showcases the rare combination of beautiful desert and pristine coastline, which is only found on the majestic Baja Peninsula.  The Norman Course, a 3,590-yard, par-36 signature design has over 400 feet of elevation change.  The Nicklaus I Course, a 3,758-yard, par-36 signature design by Jack Nicklaus, features rippling fairways, undulating greens and sculpted bunkers.  The Nicklaus II Course, a 3,436-yard par-36 signature design emulates the original Nicklaus I Course with subtly contoured greens, large sculpted bunkers and dramatic elevation changes.

Day 6

Play Club Campestre San Jose

Click here to research more info on the course:

http://questrogolf.com/our-courses/club-campestre-san-jose

Drive from Dreams Cabo to golf course = 14 minutes

Tucked in the rolling foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains, only 15 minutes from Los Cabos International Airport and just five minutes from downtown San Jose del Cabo, the Nicklaus Design golf course at Club Campestre is the centerpiece of a 550-acre master-planned community.

The layout’s verdant fairways, chiseled into sloping desert terrain, offer players fine views of the Sea of Cortes. Vast sandy waste areas, big flashed-face bunkers and sinu-ous arroyos snaking across the fairways call for careful course management. The true character of the golf course lies in Campestre’s undulating, multi-tiered greens, which are among the most liberally contoured putting surfaces in Los Cabos.

Among the feature holes on this beautifully maintained facility, surfaced from tee to green in emerald-green paspalum, is the risk-reward par-5 7th hole, a double-dogleg that plays to a well-bunkered peninsula green, seemingly floating in temptation.

Campestre’s picturesque back nine ascends to higher ground, circulating players around a rolling desert plateau high above the sea. The par-3 11th, stretching to 216 yards, plays to a large green with false fronts on all sides that shrugs off indifferent tee shots.

At the par-5 13th hole, a trio of cross bunkers defends the landing area, forcing players to either lay up, or carry the ball 235 yards to clear the hazards. The par-5 17th hole, at 606 yards the longest hole on the course, brings a deep pot bunker in the center of the fairway into play, with a broad arroyo angled in front of the elevated green.

Campestre’s par-4 18th hole, which drops to a dished-out fairway bisected by a long, multi-lobed waste bunker, plays to a well-defended green backdropped by the sparkling Sea of Cortes.

Always in top condition, Campestre is a local favorite and represents the best value in Los Cabos.
