Swimmable Beaches
Below is a list of swimmable beaches in Los Cabos and which of our favorite Cabo hotels can be found there.
SANTA MARIA BEACH
Fifteen minutes outside of either Cabo, Santa Maria Bay is located in the corridor and is a protected marine sanctuary and a Blue Flag Certified beach. The exclusive Montage Los Cabos is opening its doors on 2018.
CHILENO BEACH
Playa Chileno is a Blue Flag Certified Beach with great snorkeling and full facilities open to the public. The Auberge, Chileno Bay Resort and Residences opened in 2017 and is the only resort with direct access to this beach.
PALMILLA BEACH
Another Blue Flag Certified Beach, Playa Palmilla is suitable for swimming and has easy public access. The One&Only Palmilla is located on this beach.
MEDANO BEACH
The longest swimmable beach of Los Cabos, you can find a handful of resorts along this beach’s coast, including the Riu, Me Cabo, Casa Dorada, among many others.
PLAYA BLEDITO, HILTON COVE AND TEQUILA COVE
A beach known by several names, the conditions to swim here are generally safe. Hilton Los Cabos & Paradisus are beachfront properties, with Las Ventanas al Paraiso and Casa del Mar right next door, about a 10 minute walk on the beach.
LA PLAYITA AND EL GANZO BEACH CLUB AT PUERTO LOS CABOS
In the new marina of San Jose del Cabo, you can find these two small swimmable beaches. El Ganzo features a Barefoot Beach Club, steps away from the hotel and is open to outside gusts for a small fee.
Golf
Set back from the shoreline’s sun-drenched beaches and sparkling waters are more than a dozen exquisite layouts built by luminaries such as Jack Nicklaus, Tom Fazio, Greg Norman, Robert Trent Jones, Jr., and Tiger Woods. With two courses in GOLF Magazine’s “Top 100 in the World” list and four of the top five courses in Mexico as ranked by Golf Digest, Los Cabos is the undisputed golf capital of Mexico.
Los Cabos raised the stakes significantly in 2014, when the two best-known figures in the sport, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods, unveiled new creations at Quivira and Diamante, respectively. Quivira, a stunning layout at Land’s End that meanders through massive rolling dunes and tiptoes along sheer granite cliffs 275 feet above the sea, was named the “Best New International Course” of 2014 by GOLF Magazine.
Diamante’s El Cardonal, which marks the architectural debut of global superstar Tiger Woods, is a strategic gem that evokes an “Old California” design motif. Bold, flashed-face bunkers, broad fairway corridors and ocean views from every hole characterize El Cardonal, which is routed on higher ground than Diamante’s top-rated Dunes Course, these newcomers have further established Los Cabos as an exotic, must-play getaway within easy reach of most U.S. and Canadian cities.
Sport Fishing
Sport fishing in Los Cabos is a year round activity, and specific seasons highlight the wealth of species here. Los Cabos is one of the world’s best sport fishing destinations — more marlin and swordfish are caught here than anywhere else in the world. Catch and release is the general rule and world famous sport fishing tournaments, such as Bisbee’s Black & Blue Marlin and East Cape Offshore derbies, are held here annually. There are experienced service providers with professional equipment for those on a budget as well as for those after luxury.
